Precious Moments

In the unofficial anthology of mockery,
where in recent years I have submitted ideas considerably less,
sits a precious moments collectable that is no angel.

She is a friend, though.

Her big blue eyes stand at my level,
yet appear to peer upwards looking for God,
waiting for eye contact and her baby out in the car.

The bandages rest around the jolly public figure's mannequin hand like a ribbon.
      We are bound by clearance items but burned by the food that is hung on trees.
          Blessed by the Holiday Spirit and bundled warmly in a surplus of puns aplenty.

We laugh at the misunderstood context of cheesecake,
and the registers who believe us to be engaged,
as she pulls me aside to engage me in a cough-cough-hint-hint-point-point.
                                                                                    I am too in love to notice.

Green pre-ornamental needles neglect and disperse on the spruce
  (or pine,
        whatever,
  it's fine).
The gloomy nation of rumination rumor that forceable peace,
  "or truce", is true.
All will die at Christmas time.
