Pining Lonely and Pine River Longing

I wish I could look into the river and have my future reflected back to me
To see all what-ifs and could-have-beens morph into something more than mere possibility
I don’t want us to be a could-have-been
And if fate will never bless my vision with foresight
then I beg to Him to send me back to before it all went wrong
And if course correction is not in the cards, then I pray the deck can be destroyed; that every king and queen and clubs of paths preordained may perish beneath the twitch of His wrist

The Mirage of Marriage

Children are made from
the mirage of marriage
a carriage carrying various
karats in the number of 24
but before she can minus one and times it by two
to make 46 chromosomes
she realizes she is home all alone.

Don't Leave Me Alone In This Place

As you leave for flesh that is not mine I will think of you and dread your image
As you leave to seek a life outside the misery of this dull-life small town drear I will think of you and dread your image
As you leave the pain of pleasant memories will stir up my mind and make me sick with wanting you

Eros Schmeros

O' wretched Eros, bastard Lord of Love
what wicked threads you spin upon the celestial loom
of want and want not
leave me be, I do not want your sweater
as I welcome the cold

Blarney

The prestigious art of falling in love's calculated pain,
is cushioned by the act it was caught in,
where between two pieces of wax paper and red hands,
sandy from time's preserved hour glass,
it is safe,
because you are too important.

Frankenmuth

The bandages rest around the jolly public figure's mannequin hand like a ribbon.
We are bound by clearance items but burned by the food that is hung on trees.
Blessed by the Holiday Spirit and bundled warmly in a surplus of puns aplenty.

We laugh at the misunderstood context of cheesecake,
and the registers who believe us to be engaged,
as she pulls me aside to engage me in a cough-cough-hint-hint-point-point.
I am too in love to notice.
